Eric brings extensive financial prowess to Guard Title. Prior to joining Guard Title, Eric was the CFO and CAO at White Oak Credit Services and White Oak Global Advisors respectively. As CFO at White Oak Credit Services, Eric directed financial reporting for investment funds, managed audits and ensured compliance with accounting guidelines. In his role as Chief Accounting Officer at White Oak Global Advisors, he structured diverse funds to meet investor requirements, implemented operational infrastructures across global finance platforms, and actively contributed to due diligence processes. Leveraging his experience, Eric is tasked with fortifying Guard Title’s financial reporting system and infrastructure, ensuring accuracy and compliance. His proficiency in implementing operational infrastructures will be pivotal in Guard Title’s operations for sustained growth, solidifying its position in the financial landscape.
Ed Gitlin
Founder and Principal
The Founding Father of Guard Title, Ed is a successful entrepreneur, real estate broker, lender, and title industry veteran. Since getting started in 1985, Ed has successfully founded, scaled, and managed various real estate, mortgage, and title companies, as well as an SEC registered Reg-D Hedge Fund. In 2007, having conducted $650 Million in transactions and with 450 personnel under management, Ed sold his business to Realogy, a publicly traded company. Thereafter, Ed established Tower Fund Capital, leveraging his formidable real estate network and goodwill growing it into a robust and active pipeline of deal flow, all built on a scalable seamless operational platform. Ed’s primary focus is on business development and expansion, constantly exploring new verticals within the real estate space, as well as management of all equity and credit relationships.
Jake Weiser
Founder and Principal
Jake brings diverse experience to Guard Title having been in the commercial lending space for more than thirteen years. Jake began his career as general counsel at Yellowstone Capital, one of the country’s largest specialty finance lenders. At Yellowstone, Jake managed the legal, compliance, and HR departments, and instituted processes and best practices for due diligence, servicing, collections, and reporting, helping to grow the company from two dozen employees to 200+ personnel. Jake also co-managed several rounds to raise various credit-facilities, assisted with consummating several rounds of private equity investments in the company, and ultimately helped facilitate and execute a management led buyout of said private equity. Additionally, Jake oversaw and managed many active litigation matters in state and federal courts, liaised with and responded to federal and state governmental agencies on a regular basis, and founded a successful commercial collections company. Prior to establishing Guard Title Jake ran a family office focused on specialty finance ventures and private credit transactions.
Cy Weiser
Founder and Principal
Cy brings diverse experience to Guard Title, where he manages and oversees all aspects of the title process, from file intake to post closing. Prior to establishing Guard Title, Cy spent seven years at a family office focused on specialty finance ventures and private credit transactions, including building and launching several successful standalone platforms for investors, and originating and managing multiple in-house debt portfolios, including underwriting, managing, and servicing a $100+ million portfolio of commercial real estate debt between 2020 and 2023. Prior to joining the family office, Cy spent five years as Director of Operations and Procurement for a leading national skilled nursing facilities operator, where he was responsible for an annual budget exceeding $400 million, covering 28 facilities and 800+ employees.
